Team Zekert

After successfully winning the Midwest Division Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) in both 2005 and 2006, it is now time for the third season of the Zekert Booble Racing Nissan 200SX. In his 25rd season of racing and second sporting the green and blue colors of the Booble.com logo, Peter will be racing his Nissan 200SX in national level races across the midwest and will participate in the season ending National Championship Runoffs to be covered live on Speed TV in early October.

2005 was a stellar season for Booble Racing, and 2006 was even more impressive! Zekert repeated as the Midwest Division Champion and, at the National Championship Runoffs, put his car on Pole for the second day of qualifying. Zekert maintained a front row, second place qualifying position behind a multi-time Champion James Dentici in the King Honda CRX. In the race Dentici and Zekert ran off and left the field. Unfortunately on lap 7, Zekert and the Booble Racing Nissan blew up in a cloud of smoke. The safety crew was dispatched. Zekert was OK, but the engine on the Booble Nissan was gone.

Throughout his 25 seasons in the SCCA, Peter has had numerous 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finishes in the Midwest Division before his back to back 2005 & 2006 divisional championships. At the national championship Runoffs, Zekert has finished as high as 4th place (1999) and has qualifyied as high as 2nd (2006).

Team members include: Dan Layton, Chris Layton, Susan Zekert, Dave Bloxham and countless other volunteers who support the Booble race car in the pits and between races. Engineering support is from Russ Theus, chassis designer. Photographer Mark Weber provides images of the Booble car in action.

When Peter is not racing, he works as an automotive product trainer and also as a high performance driving instructor. Everything Peter does in life revolves around fast cars.
